Coffee Club goes to the Mountains

Everyone knows that this time of year the leaves in North Georgia are beautiful. So, we rented a van and hit the road. This was our first official Coffee Club Field Trip! And, we had a BLAST!

After church on Sunday morning Ricky and Hien went to Avis and picked up a 12 passenger van. Of course there was only 7 of us but we needed all the room! Then they headed over to Boo and N's to pick every one up. Terry came for a while, not realizing we were about to leave, but it worked out because she took a picture of all of us.

Our first stop was Panorama Apple House. As soon as we got there we were eating apple pies and ice cream. We bought perserves, apple butter and apples. Then we headed over to Mack Aaron's Apple House. That is Pet's favorite! We bought more apples and pies. We also got homemade meat skins, beef jerky and boiled peanuts. Then on to see the real *wink* reason we came-trees and leaves.

Ricky, our official driver, took us to Trackrock Campgrounds. It was awesome. The views there were breathtaking. The pictures just don't do it justice. There were still people camping there and a dog wandered up to us. She was so sweet. She let us pet her and followed us around a bit. Boo named her Chocolate.

From there, our driver took us through a couple of more campgrounds and then we headed to Dahlonega. There, we picked up Whitney from school and she went to eat with us at the Smith House. Then it was time to head home. We were gone for 10 hours and drove 325 miles! What a day. It was so much fun. I know we will do something like this again....just what? and when? Be sure to check out the pictures! I have them all posted!

Coffee Club/Birthday Party

This week the Coffee Club didn't meet because our Hostess with the mostess little feet left early Sunday morning to go on a trip with the girls. So, we delayed CC, moved it to Ricky and Hien's house and called it a birthday party. A birthday party for who??? Why for me and Kevin! We had the best time. I was really surprised by the extent my family went out for me. It was AWESOME. We had chicken wings, sub sandwiches, all the sides and cake and ice cream. Then Boo started the Redneck Rollercoaster. What is the Redneck Rollcoaster? Imagine 8 people sitting in plastic chairs on a trailer being pulled by a Jeep. I can't believe no one got hurt. It was crazy! You know how they say a picture is worth a million words? Well, there is no way I can sit here and describe it.

A month???

I can't believe it has been almost a month since I posted an entry. To all our loved (but far away) CC members, I apologize. I promise to do better. Maybe I will just have to post from the CC next time....Now there is a thought. If I do that, you know Boo will be over my shoulder telling me what to write.

Since I have last posted we have had some visitors. Sandra (N's sister) stayed for a while and my cousin's from Texas, Chrissy and Manny, were here. You can see a picture of Chrissy and Manny in the Photo Album but I forgot to get one of Sandra. Maybe I can pull one from somewhere else. We also had to say, 'bye for now' to Matt (there is a new picture of him too).

He is off to Philly to Temple University. It was great having him with us for most of the summer. Hopefully he will make a habit of it, if his Mom doesn't mind!

Speaking of his mom, Sissy, she called in from Philly to the CC. She was there to help Matt get settled in his new dorm and ready for the semester ahead. But it doesn't end there. Not only is this CC NATIONAL....

This past week at CC we went INTERNATIONAL. We actually had visitors from Holland via Skype. If you haven't heard of Skype it is a computer software that allows users to talk on the phone via the internet. If you have a web camera, you can see the person you are talking to. That is is how Rick and Susan came to CC! They are in Holland at the GO Conference with OM (Operation Mobilization-a missionary sending agency). They will be there the rest of this week and then they will travel back to Italy (where they will be serving for TWO years) to language school. Once language school is done they will start working at a church in Torre Pelice. What an amazing adventure! I will get the website and post it so you may link to it as well.

It was a busy CC and very much full of laughs as always. What a great time!

Getting back to the Coffee Club

First of all, welcome to the new site! This new site will let us have a calendar, add more pictures, let guests leave comments and keep us up to date on what happened at the latest Coffee Club meeting. If you haven't, click on the links under the picture of the coffee cup on any page to have a look around. There is even a link (Where we started!) that has the old blog archived.

As you can see, we haven't had any entries for the last three months. Those of you in the CC and our close friends know why. We had a huge bump but as with all things you have to ask the good Lord for stregnth and just keep going! That is what is most important, keep going, have fun, ENJOY what the Lord has given you and appreciate those things that you had but have now lost. Don't get bogged down. KEEP GOING.

Now, to KEEP GOING, we are getting back to blogging and adding things in the CC website to keep our family and friends updated. This new site is going to be great!

We have a had a few CC meetings in the last three months but not many. Actually we only had one in July because our precious Papa had knee replacement surgery on July 18th. He has been in the hospital and in rehab but now he is home with his personal nurse, N. He came home Saturday and everyone was there come Sunday morning for hugs, laughs and mater and ham sandwiches. We even had out of town visitors! My cousin, Chrissy, and her husband, Manny, are here for vacation for a week. They got here Saturday and what did they do first? Visit the CC! You can see their picture in the Visitors album. What a way to get back to things. Have a look, leave a comment, enjoy the site and come back often to see what we are up to....

Boo's Unapology

An unapologetic, apology from Boo Boo.This past Sunday April 6th 2008, the coffee club was cancelled by N at my request due to a serious medical condition I suffered with from Saturday evening till approximately Sunday noon and no, contrary to popular beliefs, it was not "Brain Damage", how do I know it was not dain bramage ? because that has always been a pre-existing condition with me from early child hood. It was much more serious, it was a pinched nerve in my lower back causing severe pain in my back and legs thus causing a total painful & sleepless Saturday night. At the same time the coffee club would have been in full swing, I was at my Doctor's office getting some much needed relief by his magical, and well trained hands. He said I would now be fine after the swelling went down. It happened just like he said, my entire painful ordeal vanished. I really did not notice exactly when the swelling disappeared, but it was somewhere between the infamous BBQ Kitchen and home.We all know and understand that you can get a pretty decent cup of Jo most anywhere, however, there are very special ingredients that you can get "ONLY" at the real coffee club, let me explain.I still remember and will never forget the first letter ofreprimand given to our (very precious and very own) Moe Moe when she accidentally cancelled a coffee club meeting some time back. This (first of many) letter's of reprimand to Moe Moe was written by our own re re and went something like this: "When we miss a coffee club meeting for any reason at all, it creates many terrible side effects such as a lack of hanging out with some pretty wonderful folks, lack of lots of good ole Hugs, a lack of Those famous, Moe Moe style, slobbering Kisses and bunches and bunches of knee slapping laughs". These are what I now refer to as the coffee club "side effects" or in short, "sides". For causing everyone to miss out on so many wonderful sides, although it was certainly not intentionally, I do apologize, so therefore, I have come up with a very cool solution. To all our regular (& wonderful)members, too wonderful not to mention each by name: Willie Frank aka Papa Rouse (our famous traveler & currently longest distance full time member), Alice aka Ippie Terrell (The one with the most frequent repair shop travel points), Jerry aka Uncle Dunk (The one that is starting to discuss retirement benefits from his very large & famous paper/mail delivery business), Sylvia aka Moe Moe (????? Moe Moe, all I can say to you right now is just to sit down, shut up & I will get back to you, when I have time to sit down & write a novel or two), Kim aka Miss Tim (Our own coordinating coordinator that keeps all our creative juices flowing also our dedicated bookkeeper & the very one responsible for our cool Webb presence & noted she always gives up, I think, too much of her rest time to make all this happen,--WHAT A GAL!!!) Hein aka Ding Ding (The one you may see down on a country dirt road driving a left handed jeep running from this huge cloud of dust & if you could see her rear bumper, you would see a bumper sticker that reads:"MAIL & HELL ON WHEELS" on one side & "EAT MY DUST" on the other side. Now about her faithful side companion Tonto, oops!!!! I mean Wicky, I mean Ricky aka re re (The only person you will ever see that goes to bed everynight with a pen in his hand just in case he dreams of a sales contract, he will make sure it gets signed. And of course, last but no means least, our very own precious little N aka N.(The very one who always makes sure everyone has plenty of that goooood ole Jo & each coffee club meeting goes off without a hitch, because she is without a doubt, the hostess with mostess little feet. The next time you show up at the coffee club preceded by a cancelled coffee club and you somehow feel slighted or cheated & when your first cup of Jo is offered up, just say: "I WOULD LIKE EXTRA SIDES WITH THAT PLEASE" !!!!!!!Will go for now but remember:"HAPPY TRAILS TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU --- UNTIL WE EAT AGAIN".Boo Boo aka Boo Boo (The one with the pinched brain that has the nerve to write such as this.)

No Coffee Club cuz of Boo

Well, as I said, sometimes we have to cancel CC and that was the case this past Sunday. Unfortunately Boo Boo was feeling bad in the back and N had to take him the chiropractor. Who hears of any doctor that will meet you on a Sunday? That just doesn't happen these days. I give Dr. Joe props for that. Anyway, Boo Boo was back to his old self and posted the item above. Now, let me state the facts! That post just goes to show you that Boo Boo knew he was gonna get it! That is what you call a pre-emptive strike! Boo Boo knew it was coming and was trying to soften the blow! He might have won this time, but that doesn't mean he is safe! We will get him before it is over. Now, back to business. You might wonder what happens when CC gets cancelled. This time just three of us went out for breakfast. Ri Ri, Ding Ding and I hit Cracker Barrell and had a good ole biscuit and gravy breakfast. Remember, I said we were 'trying' to be good. Didn't work last Sunday, nope! Doesn't this pic make you hungry???

Dunc's Birthday 2008

Yes, even grumpy old men are welcome at the Dunson Coffee Club. It happened to be this grumpy old man's birthday so we decided the decent thing to do was to give him a plant, balloon, shirt that said "Old Dudes Rule" and 'cake'. As you can see, the cake was really an apple. Of the CC, Dunc is the healthiest and really has had a positive influence on us. When he isn't looking we might sneek a biscuit and gravy breakfast, but for the most part we are being good. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUNC!~
